Edo State Police Command said it arrested a 32-year-old woman identified as Janet Dominic with firearms and ammunition in the State.
DAILY POST reports that the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Moses Yamu, who disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Benin City, said the arrest was made during the mop up of arms.
Yamu said the suspect was arrested on April 10, 2025 by the Command's X-Squad during a raid at the Iguezemwahu community, along Benin-Auchi Road in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of the State.
He said during the raid, the said woman was arrested, while one Dominic, surname unknown, escaped from the scene on sighting the police.
The Command spokesman listed arms and ammunition recovered from the suspect as two single-barrel guns, three pistols, seven live cartridges, one dagger, one trigger part and one Beretta magazine.
He added that the arms and ammunition were concealed inside the seat of a motorcycle.
Yamu said the investigation is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect.
He added that the achievement was part of the Commissioner of Police in the State, Monday Agbonika's unwavering resolve to rid the state of crimes.
