Published on March 26, 2025 at 03:07 PM

Operatives of the Scorpion Squad have arrested Shaibu Alhaji Ahijo, a notorious kidnapper who had been declared wanted by the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies.

Ahijo, 25, was apprehended at Nyanya Under Bridge in Abuja on March 24 around 6:00 p.m., following a tip-off. This was revealed by counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama on his X handle.

During interrogation, Ahijo reportedly admitted to participating in multiple kidnappings across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, and Benue States. He also confessed to receiving ₦1 million in ransom from his most recent operation.

The suspect further disclosed that three of his gang members—identified as Musa, Haruna, and Babangida (surnames unknown)—were killed by security operatives during a failed kidnapping attempt in Benue State.

Following the deadly encounter, he had traveled to Abuja to regroup with his network before his arrest.

Security sources confirmed that Ahijo remains in custody as investigations continue. Authorities are now working to dismantle the remnants of his criminal syndicate.
