Police arrest suspected kidnapper in Plateau

Plateau State Police Command has apprehended a suspected kidnapper and recovered a stockpile of ammunition in Kabwir Community, Kanke Local Government Area.

The arrest, which took place on the night of March 25, 2025, was based on credible intelligence indicating that the suspect was lodging in a hotel within the area. Acting swiftly, a team of officers, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kanke, mobilized to the scene and arrested 25-year-old Auwal Haruna, an indigene of Kaduna State.

A search of the suspect’s belongings led to the recovery of 51 rounds of 7.62x51mm ammunition, 14 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, one AA cartridge, an empty AK-47 magazine, assorted charms, and other suspicious items.

Confirming the development, the Plateau State Police Command stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of the suspect’s involvement in criminal activities.

Authorities have also intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the alleged kidnapping syndicate.
