Police investigate alleged sexual assault in FCT

Published on April 24, 2025 at 05:28 AM

The FCT police command has launched an investigation into allegations of sexual assault against Ebunoluwa Fatoyinbo after a formal complaint was filed.
The police response follows a viral social media report which claimed that Fatoyinbo is related to President Bola Tinubu's son, Seyi Tinubu.

According to the report, Oscar Ilochi allegedly assaulted the victim while she worked out alone in the gym's basement, adding that investigations were reviewing the facility’s CCTV footage as evidence.

In a statement issued by the police spokesperson in the FCT, Josephine Adeh on Wednesday, she confirmed that the command has launched an investigation into the sexual assault case.

Meanwhile, the police statement did not mention any link between Fatoyinbo and Tinubu’s family.

The complaint, according to Adeh is directed at Oscar Ilochi, an Abuja resident who resides in Apo Legislative Quarters.

“The FCT Police Command is aware of a circulating publication on social media alleging that the Command has commenced an investigation into a case of sexual assault involving Miss Ebunoluwa, purportedly referred to as the sister of Mr. Seyi Tinubu, son of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

“The Command wishes to clarify that a formal complaint of sexual assault was indeed lodged by Miss Ebunoluwa Mitchell Fatoyinbo against one Oscar Ilochi, a resident of the Apo Legislative Quarters, Abuja.

“The matter is currently under active investigation. However, the Command advises members of the public, particularly media practitioners and social media commentators, to exercise caution and ensure due diligence in verifying facts before disseminating information,”; the statement reads.

Adeh asked citizens to rely on official communication channels for updates on police investigations.
