The incident was reported at around 5:30 a.m. by Aliyu Mani, an escort driver to the Zamfara State Governor. Mani stated that he was accosted by four armed robbers while on his way to a nearby mosque.

The assailants allegedly stole his Tecno Camon 30 Pro smartphone, valued at ₦370,000, and ₦43,000 in cash.
