The grandson of the legendary African folklore music icon, Comfort Omoge, has been gruesomely killed during a violent confrontation with a scavenger in Ondo State.

The victim, Ogoirawo Omoge, was fatally stabbed in the throat with a dagger by the scavenger along the Ayeka/Igodan-Igbokoda highway, Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.

DAILY POST gathered that what started as a minor dispute escalated with the scavenger drawing a dagger and slitting the victim’s throat before fleeing the scene.

The deceased could not survive the attack, as he was pronounced dead in the medical facility he was rushed to.

Ondo State Police Command spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, who confirmed the incident, stated that a suspect had been apprehended.

“One suspect has been arrested and is currently being held in custody.”

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Council of the state, Andrew Ogunsakin, has engaged with local leaders, including representatives from the Hausa/Fulani community, traditional rulers, and youth groups in order to douse the rising tension in the community.

Ogunsakin, who stated that the meeting had helped to further foster commitment to harmony and peaceful coexistence in the area, disclosed that a coordinated effort of the residents in the area with security agencies has led to the arrest of a suspect, identified as Machido Abubakar.

The council boss, who urged residents to remain calm and be law-abiding, extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, promising them support in their pursuit of justice.
