Premier League along with England and Wales rugby fan chaos with train strikes leaving 74,000 stranded in Cardiff

SPORTS fans are set for another weekend of chaos with further train strikes planned.

And that could see 74,000 supporters stranded in Cardiff after Wales host New Zealand in the rugby.

The Dragons take on the All Blacks at the Principality Stadium with a 3.15pm kick-off on Saturday.

However, with national strikes, there will be fewer trains going to Cardiff before the game and NONE leaving the Welsh capital after full-time.

Transport for Wales, Great Western Rail and CrossCountry Trains are all taking part in the walkout.

The Autumn International are being urged to find alternative ways of getting to and from the stadium including travelling by coach or using the city’s park and ride.

North of the border, Scotland host Fiji in another rugby union clash at 1pm at Murrayfield while there could still be problems by the time England kick-off against Argentina at Twickenham on Sunday afternoon.

The strikes are likely to have a major impact on both Cardiff City and Wigan football fans.

The Bluebirds take on Sunderland away – a 622-mile, 12-hour round trip by car – for a 3pm kick-off at the Stadium of Light while the Latics head to Swansea’s Liberty Stadium.

Overall, about 20 per cent of regular train services will be running across the UK as the RMT and TSSA continue the ongoing dispute over workers’ pay.

And that is also likely to have an impact on Premier League, EFL, FA Cup, rugby and horse racing supporters heading to live action this weekend.

Leicester have the evening kick-off away at Everton, Bournemouth face a mammoth trip to Leeds and Bristol City head to Middlesbrough.

England play Papa New Guinea in the Rugby League World Cup quarter-final at Wigan’s DW Stadium while Newcastle Falcons welcome Bath in the Gallagher Premiership Rugby.

And there is also a bumper day of racing with a whopping 20 races and TEN hours of live coverage on ITV on a truly Super Saturday.

But racegoers heading to Doncaster, Wincanton and Aintree will need to make sure they have planned their journeys.
