President Federation Cup: Amuneke expects difficult Heartland, Rangers clash

Published on April 02, 2025 at 10:33 AM

Heartland technical adviser Emmanuel Amuneke is anticipating a tough challenge against Rangers.

The oriental rivals will face off in a President Federation Cup Round of 32 clash at the Awka City Stadium on Wednesday (today).

The two teams previously played out a 0-0 draw at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri earlier this season.

Neither Heartland nor Rangers have a chance of winning the Nigeria Premier Football League title this season.

The President Federation Cup presents an opportunity for both clubs to secure continental football next season.

Amuneke stated that his team will fight hard to advance to the next round of the competition.

“It’s just like any other game between the two teams. The only difference is that this is a cup competition where a winner must emerge after 90 minutes,”; Amuneke said ahead of the game.

“And like every other encounter involving them, it’s always going to be tough. Both teams enjoy strong fan bases, and I expect an exciting match, as much as it will be competitive.”

“For us (Heartland), our mentality, focus, and objective remain the same—to give our best and aim for victory. Of course, everyone knows the quality of Rangers, and we respect them for who they are and what they have achieved. But we will give our best and see what God has in store for us in the game.”;
