President Federation Cup: NFF dismisses Bayelsa United’s protest against Nasarawa United

Published on April 20, 2025 at 03:48 PM

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has cleared Nasarawa United of any wrongdoing in the players fielded for the Round of 16 clash against Bayelsa United.

Bayelsa United accused Nasarawa United of fielding five ineligible players in the encounter.

The NFF responded to the protest by the Prosperity Boys in a letter signed by the Director of Competition, Ruth David.

The letter stated that the players were duly registered and issued licences to participate in the competition.

Part of the NFF response reads, “The said five players were duly registered and issued licences by the NFF to participate in the competition.

“Your protest lacks substance and merit and therefore did not succeed.”

Nasarawa United defeated Bayelsa United 5-4 on penalties after playing a 1-1 draw in the regulation period.

The Solid Miners will face Abakaliki FC in the quarter-final at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
