‘The Ronaldo of horses’ – punters in stitches watching horse pull off ‘worst jumping ever’ with needlessly huge leaps

Published on November 15, 2022 at 12:46 PM

THIS spring-heeled horse had punters in stitches with his Ronaldo-like leaps over hurdles.

Let’s Go Amigo won fans with his exuberant racing at Leicester on Monday.

Let’s Go Amigos jumped like a salmon upstream on his debut over hurdles
One punter likened his jumping to the legendary leaps of Ronaldo

The Kim Bailey-trained four-year-old soared into the sky over the obstacles – when he should have been barely clipping the top of them.

Jockey David Bass looked to be rocked in the saddle on a couple of occasions when the horse practically landed on all fours.

And it did influence the outcome as the 2-5 favourite finished second of three, beaten just over a length by 100-30 Tara Line.

But it was the amazing jumps and not the outcome that had punters cracking up.

One said Let’s Go Amigo was ‘the Ronaldo of horses’ – a reference to the current Manchester United’s star’s gravity-defying headers and not the explosive row with his club.

Another said: “Never seen a horse so allergic to a hurdle.”;

One commented: “He’ll jump a fence alright!”;

A fellow Twitter user posted: “Could have jumped three fences at once.”;

While one said: “Worst jumping I’ve EVER seen.”;

And another quipped: “You’d need suspension on that thing.”;

Bailey wrote in his blog after the race: “Some horses just have a cheeky character and Lets Go Amigo is one of those. He is a playboy.

“Talented yes, but still a playboy. In time he will grow up and become a man, but it could take a few runs for the penny to drop.

“Yesterday he belied all the time spent with Laura Collett and all those jumping sessions at home as he took every hurdle as if he had never seem one before.

“Therefore he was beaten at very short odds.

“My Twitter account went mad, although bizarrely no rude emails or phone calls.

“I was expecting a few and was prepared. Perhaps they knew that.”;
