Qatar 2022: Croatia dump Brazil out of World Cup

Published on December 10, 2022 at 12:18 AM

Brazil have been eliminated from the 2022 World Cup, after they lost in a penalty shoot-out to Croatia on Friday.

The Selecao came in the first quarter-final tie as hot favourites, having seen off South Korea 4-1 in the previous round.

However, they struggled to break through Croatia’s defence and when they did, Dominik Livakovic produced excellent saves to keep his team in it.

Neymar eventually broke the deadlock in the first half of extra time, finishing off another fine team move.

There was late drama with Bruno Petkovic’s deflected effort making it 1-1.

The game went to penalties, where Rodrygo and Marquinhos missed from 12 yards.

Croatia will now face the winner of Argentina vs Netherlands in the semi-finals.
