Qatar 2022: Next manager to replace ‘good loser’ Southgate named

Former England and Arsenal captain Tony Adams has named two managers that could replace Gareth Southgate as the next England manager.

Southgate led England to the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar a step closer to their 2018 semi-final finish.

Adams said that the national team needs a ‘serial winner’ around to replace the current manager.

Southgate’s current deal with England expires in 2024 but there is the possibility he will choose to walk away now.

“I’m fed up with us being plucky losers,”; Adams told The Sun.

‘But they need an experienced, serial winner around the place,”; the former Gunner star said, describing Gareth Southgate as a good loser.

“The favourites to replace Southgate, if he does leave, are former Tottenham and PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino, ex-Chelsea and PSG manager Thomas Tuchel and the current Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers.”;

England was one of the countries widely tipped to win the 2022 World in Qatar but now had to wait till 2026 in Mexico, Canada and the United States of America to try again.
