Shoppers go wild as Dubai chocolate dupe drops in Lidl

A RARE Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate bar has been spotted on shelves in B&M.

The bar is an Australian treat and not usually available to buy in UK stores.

It is a 180g Peppermint Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Bar — and shoppers are dying to get their hands on it.

The craze comes after one eagle-eyed shopper shared the discovery to the Snack Reviews Facebook Group.

In the photo, the bar's wrapper shows a bright green gooey filling and describes it as a “flowing peppermint flavoured centre”

Their post racked up close to 100 likes and scores of comments, with one person saying: ‘We need to go to B&M!”.

Another wrote: “Now this sounds good!”

While a third commented: “Oooh lovely.”

The user did not reveal how much the bar costs in store, and it is not currently visible on B&M's website.

However B&M tends to offer fair deals on rare chocolates such as these.

For example, earlier this month a shopper spotted a rare 170g Dairy Milk Bar – orange and cookies flavour – on shelves for £2.99.

In comparison, a standard 180g bar of Dairy Milk is currently £2.75 in Sainsbury's, which is roughly the same price.

It comes as a reminder to always check prices before you buy so you can make sure you're getting the best value for your money.

And bear in mind that the peppermint bar could cost more or less, and may only be available in some stores.

If you want to find out if your local B&M is stocking the sweet treat, you could try giving them a bell before you visit.

Or you could ask a shop assistant when you are in store.

To find your nearest B&M you can go to the website and use the Store Finder tool.

It also helps to join local and food related Facebook groups so you can be the first to find out about, and get your hands on, rare finds.

Other Aussie chocolates spotted recently include the Peanut Butter Caramel Dairy Milk bar which was £2.99 in store.

Earlier this month shoppers also spotted Cherry Ripe Berry Truffle bars, which were described as “banging” by fans.

Cadbury's mint-flavoured Twirl has appeared on shelves, too.

HOW TO SAVE MONEY AT B&M

If you're looking to save some pennies, the B&M scanner app is free to download onto your smartphone via the Apple App Store or Google Play.

It flags potential bargains and allows you to use the camera on your phone to scan product barcodes around the store.

The app will then tell you the true price of that product, which is sometimes much lower – for example, one shopper used the app to get a £10 long hot water bottle for just 10p.

Also, the best time to get discounted products is at 10am on a Wednesday, according to an ex-B&M manager.

Staff can slash items to as little as 10p to clear excess stock and make way for new products.

Plus, deals expert Tom Church says to keep an eye out for red sticker products.

These are added to special-buy products that have been reduced in price.

It's worth signing up to Facebook pages dedicated to hunting for bargains from B&M and other discounters too.

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don't have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you're not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you'll save by going for the supermarket's own brand bars.

Shop around – if you've spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it's cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you're getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they've been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you've got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.
