REISS NELSON is hoping to sign a new deal to extend his stay at Arsenal.

The Gunners academy graduate has been at the club since the age of eight, but he is out of contract at the end of this season.

Reiss Nelson is hoping he can earn a new contract at Arsenal

Nelson, 23, has not started a Premier League game for Arsenal since July 2020.

But after featuring heavily during their mid-season friendlies and scoring against AC Milan in Dubai he is keen to make an impact.

Asked if he wanted to stay beyond the end of the season, Nelson said: “Of course. I’ve been here since I was eight and Arsenal is all I know.

“I’m only a couple of minutes from the stadium, all my family is there. So of course I’d love to stay.

“I’m 23 now so I’ve been here a long time and I’m Arsenal through and through.

“So to be playing, even in games just like this [friendlies], I’m delighted.

“Of course injuries are just a minor setback, but of course I just look towards the future and hopefully I can play many more years at the club.”;

Nelson, who spent last season on loan at Feyenoord, struggled with a thigh injury at the start of the season before returning to the first team fold with a bang.

After Bukayo Saka picked up an injury against Nottingham Forest earlier this season Nelson scored twice from the bench in a 5-0 hammering of Steve Cooper’s side.

And he is hungry for more, Nelson said: “I feel like I’m in contention.

“I’m getting minutes here and there which can only build my confidence and I feel like that’s something that I need to excel in the team because we’ve got a great team.

“If the boss wants me to play five minutes, 10 minutes or 90 minutes I’ll play with the same energy and same hunger throughout. I’ll just be there to help the team.”;
