Road accidents claimed 14 lives in one month in Edo

No fewer than 14 persons have died in road accidents across Edo State in the month of March 2025.

Cyril Mathew, the State Sector Commander, of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen on Monday in Benin City.

Mathew said the deaths occurred in 17 road accidents within the period under review across the State.

He said 14 passengers died in the accidents, 34 passengers sustained injuries while 94 passengers were involved in the

The State Sector Commander attributed the accident to brake failure, overspending, dangerous driving, and use of phone route violation, among others by drivers across the State.

He, however, warned motorists against over-speeding, drunk driving, night driving, and use of the phone to arrive at their destination safely.

He said the command has carried out lots of sensitization campaigns and educated motorists and other road users on the need to imbibe a safety culture on the road and save lives.
