MIKEY Lewis has been told to achieve his NRL dream by Hull KR boss Willie Peters.

For that means he would have done the business for the Robins – but he has a way of delaying any switch, with spiders and snakes!

Reigning Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel Lewis told how it has always been his desire to test himself Down Under.

But club boss Peters revealed he has always known of it and any move would be testament to the job he has done at Craven Park.

He said: “When I first came over, I got to know the individuals – where they’ve come from and what they want to achieve.

“Mikey always said to me he wanted to go to the NRL. Our job as staff is to develop him and grow him and help him achieve those dreams.

“Do we want Mikey to leave? Absolutely not but if it’s something he wants to look at down the track, that’s up to him.

“He’s very upfront with it and we have good conversations around it. I want to develop Mikey into the best player he can be. If that means he gets an opportunity there, we’ll look at it.

“Everyone’s watching every move. Being in a key position like half back, you need to be consistent and come up with big plays and clutch moments.

“He’s working on his temperament and is growing a lot off the field. It’s about working defensively and making sure his best and worst aren’t too far apart.”;

Despite talk of Lewis heading to the NRL, Peters believes he has a trump card which would at least delay any switch to Australia.

He added: “I don’t want him going anywhere any time soon so I’m not going to paint a picture of sun and beaches.

“The snakes and spiders might scare him off. Actually, they will!”;
