Russia opposes Western peacekeepers in Ukraine

Published on March 27, 2025 at 03:28 PM

Russia has kicked against the potential deployment of Western peacekeepers in Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated this on Thursday.

She also warned that such a move could lead to a direct clash between Russia and NATO.

The foreign ministry spokeswoman also accused London and Paris of plotting a military intervention in Ukraine under the guise of a peacekeeping operation.

These came as France hosted a summit of a coalition of the willing to discuss future support for Ukraine, after a similar meeting in Britain, where military leaders from around 30 countries convened to discuss the coalition’s next steps.

DAILY POST reports that the United States announced on Tuesday that it has agreed to a sea ceasefire with Russia.

The announcement followed separate meetings between America, Russia and Ukrainian officials between Monday and Tuesday.

After Tuesday’s meeting with Ukrainian officials, the White House published two readouts from its talks with both countries, effectively announcing an agreement for a ceasefire at sea “to ensure safe navigation, eliminate the use of force, and prevent the use of commercial vessels for military purposes in the Black Sea.”;
