Published on April 02, 2025 at 08:14 PM

A Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber has crashed in the Irkutsk region of southeastern Siberia due to a technical malfunction.

Local governor Igor Kobzev, who announced this on his Telegram channel on Wednesday, said the aircraft went down during a routine flight near the village of Buret in the Usolsk district, causing no damage to civilian structures.

Kobzev confirmed that the four crew members ejected, but one of them did not survive.

However, he did not disclose the exact cause of the crash.

DAILY POST reports that the Tupolev Tu-22M3, known as “Backfire” in NATO classification, is a long-range supersonic missile carrier bomber.
