The Imo State Police Command has assured the Muslim community of adequate security as they observe the Eid-el-Fitri celebration.

A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, stated that the move is in line with Commands' commitment to ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.

He disclosed that the State Police Command, in synergy with other security agencies, has put in place robust security measures to safeguard all residents before, during, and after the festivities.

Okoye hinted that the security arrangements were finalized after a high-level meeting of security chiefs at the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, attended by the Brigade Commander, Brig. Gen. IM Abass, the DSS Director DD ZM Baba, Air Cdre DE Bello, Commander Nigeria Air Force Commander Naval Base Oguta,
Cdre MA Alhassan, and the representative of the Commissioner of Police, among others.

The meeting, according to him, focused on strategies to ensure maximum security throughout the celebrations.

“As part of these efforts, the Police, Millitary, DSS, NSCDC, NDLEA, FRSC, and other security agencies have launched a Joint Security Show of Force to reassure residents of our readiness to swiftly address any security threats and maintain peace,” he stated.

The PPRO revealed that the various security agencies have engaged in joint intelligence-driven operations, visibility patrols, and stop-and-search operation at strategic locations to deter criminal elements from attempting to destabilize public peace and security.

The Command's spokesperson noted that police operatives have also been deployed to prayer grounds, worship centres, recreational areas and other public spaces to prevent security breaches.

“Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and tactical team commanders have been given strict directives to ensure heightened surveillance and proactive policing within their areas of responsibility.
Any lapses or security infractions will not be tolerated,” he added.

Okoye equally urged all residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant and cooperate with security personnel, and also report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command's designated emergency hotlines.

He added that the state police commissioner, CP Aboki Danjuma extends the Command’s warmest wishes to the Muslim faithful for a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
