Saudi Arabia: Cristiano Ronaldo dropped from Al-Nassr squad to face Damac

Published on April 22, 2025 at 05:37 PM

Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo has been dropped from the matchday squad to face Damac in a Saudi Pro League fixture on Tuesday.

Ronaldo has been excluded from the 20-man squad for the crucial league clash.

Sadio Mané is also absent due to suspension.

In the absence of the superstar forwards, Jhon Durán will lead Al Nassr’s attack.

According to A Bola, Al Nassr head coach Stefano Pioli is prioritising the club’s campaign in the AFC Champions League.

Pioli’s men are in the quarter-finals and will face J1 League giants Yokohama F. Marinos on Saturday.

The Italian coach has chosen to rest the 40-year-old Ronaldo in order to preserve his fitness.

This is only the second time in the 2024–25 campaign that Ronaldo has missed a Saudi Pro League fixture for Al Nassr.

The last occasion was in October 2024 against Al Kholood, a match that ended in a 3–3 draw.
