Scotland: Rangers boss, Ferguson slams Dessers’ critics

Published on March 31, 2025 at 06:38 AM

Rangers head coach, Barry Ferguson has defended Cyriel Dessers following criticism over the forward's profligacy in front of goal.

Dessers has struggled to win over a large section of Rangers fans despite his impressive goal record at the club.

The Nigeria international scored his 46th Rangers' goal from 100 appearance against Dundee last weekend.

The forward has been criticised by media and Rangers supporters for missing a number of easy chances as well.

Ferguson praised the forward for shutting his ears from critics.

“He puts himself in brilliant positions, he can get frustrated and start feeling sorry for himself, but he keeps going. He got his reward with the winner,” Ferguson was quoted by Rangers News.

“Even before I took the job, I always said the big guy would keep going. If he got criticism from fans and the media, the big man just rolls his sleeves up.”
