Security forces allegedly involved in mysterious demolition in Kano

Published on March 26, 2025 at 05:41 PM

In the late hours of Tuesday, two buildings in the Badalar ‘Dan Agundi area of Kano collapsed under unclear circumstances.

Eyewitnesses reported that security personnel, armed with firearms, apprehended the site’s security guard, restraining him before initiating the demolition process.

According to Arewa radio, the affected plots are currently subject to a legal dispute between the property owners and the Kano State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA).

Since taking office, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has signaled intentions to demolish structures in the Badalar ‘Dan Agundi to Kofar Fanfo areas, citing that the land in question was allocated by the previous Kano state administration.

As of now, no official body has taken responsibility for the demolition.

However, there has been growing concern among the local community regarding the nighttime execution of the demolition, which has further complicated the ongoing land ownership dispute.
