Security forces foil bandits’ attacks in Katsina

Published on April 12, 2025 at 11:03 AM

Security forces in Katsina State have successfully repelled two coordinated attacks by suspected bandits in Malumfashi and Agagiwa villages, averting what could have been a deadly night for residents and commuters.

The twin attacks occurred on Friday, April 11, 2025. According to intelligence sources cited by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the first incident took place around 9:30 p.m. in Fanisau Village, located in Malumfashi Local Government Area.

Suspected bandits stormed the community, prompting a swift response from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Malumfashi, who led a patrol team to the area. A fierce gun battle ensued, forcing the attackers to retreat into the surrounding bush.

Just thirty minutes later, at about 10:00 p.m., another distress call came from Agagiwa Village, where the bandits were said to have barricaded the Malumfashi–Funtua road and opened fire on a passing motorist.

In response, the DPO deployed an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) to the location. Security operatives engaged the assailants in a gunfight, which once again led to the bandits fleeing the scene without succeeding in their operation.

No casualties were recorded among civilians or security forces in either attack, though the police are yet to confirm if any of the attackers were wounded or apprehended.
