Empoli defender, Tyronne Ebuehi has expressed his excitement after returning to action following a lengthy layoff.
Ebuehi was sidelined for around one year after undergoing surgery for a cruciate ligament injury.
The 28-year-old took to the field for the first time this season in Empoli's draw with Cagliari last weekend.
The Nigeria international stated it was difficult staying on the sidelines without kicking the ball.
“It was the second serious injury of my career, I was out for a year and it was very difficult. There were hard moments, but now I'm just happy to be back” he told the club's official website.
Empoli sit in 18th position on the Serie A table and are battling to escape relegation.
Ebuehi declared that the players must give their all to stay in the top-flight.
“We must give everything until the end . This is the true spirit of Italian football, where even the so-called “big teams” must sweat for every point, just like us who are fighting for our championship,” he added.
