Nearly 300 sex toys left on London buses, Tube and taxis by red-faced commuters

RED-faced commuters have left almost 300 sex toys on London buses, trains and taxis over a decade, official figures show.

They were all handed to Transport for London lost property between 2014 and 2024 — with up to 40 reclaimed by owners.

The remainder have either been sold or destroyed.

Some were found at train stations including Waterloo, Liverpool Street, Euston, London Bridge and Victoria stations — and at all five terminals of Heathrow Airport.

A further eight were found in the back of black cabs, while 78 were found on buses.

The remainder were found on Tube and Overground trains, the Docklands Light Railway, while four were found in bus and coach stations.

One device was even handed in at the London Transport Museum, a obtained by revealed.

The lost property office in West Ham, East London, recovers more than 200,000 items a year on average. The most common valuables are wallets, purses and cash.

But a record 298,682 items were found in the year to March 2024, with 52,731 reclaimed by owners.

TfL said: “Items are catalogued and stored safely, with the details used to match against customer enquiries.

“Where the item has some form of identification, we try to contact the owner to let them know that their property has been found.

“If, after three months, items are not collected, they are given to or sent to auction to help cover the costs of running the office.”;
