Shannon Sharpe offered around $10 million to his sexual assault accuser as settlement for the case, according to TMZ.
Sharpe’s lawyer, Lanny J. Davis, revealed this to reporters on Tuesday.
According to Davis, his client proposed paying Jane Doe the money during mediations that took place “within the last month or so.”;
Although Doe considered the offer, she “suddenly, without warning, walked away from our offer,”; Davis said.
According to him, it was “a big surprise to us when suddenly this case was filed without any advanced warning.”
Doe's attorney, Tony Buzbee, also confirmed that they were offered the payout.
“On the one hand, Mr. Sharpe and his lawyers claim that the case filed by Jane Doe is meritless, yet on the other hand, they now have disclosed that Mr. Sharpe offered Jane Doe $10 million in writing not to file her lawsuit,” Buzbee wrote.
Earlier in the day, Sharpe posted a video of himself denying the allegations against him and calling the lawsuit a “shakedown.”
