A STAR of the hit series The Pitt has a very famous TV actor dad – but can you guess who it is?
The Pitt covers one hour of a single 15-hour emergency department shift at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital.
It is similar to the format Keifer Sutherland'shit show 24 used, and it stars Noah Wyle, Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, and Katherine LaNasa.
But one of the actors Taylor Dearden, who stars as Dr Melissa King, a second year resident, has a very famous father.
Taylor was born on February 12, 1993 and is the daughter of actor Bryan Cranston and actress Robin Gale Dearden.
She chose to use her mom's maiden name to stay out of her dad's limelight and stardom.
Bryan who played teacher turned meth maker Walter White from 2008-13, in the hit show Breaking Bad also starred in many other movies and TV shows, including Godzilla, The Upside, and the acclaimed Your Honor.
Bryan told GQ: “She’s very independent and very conscientious of not having any association or hint thereof of nepotism.”
Although Taylor did have a guest role in one episode of Breaking Bad, her dad's Emmy winning series, in 2010.
Then during her time in college she went on to star in various short films.
After graduation Taylor got a starring role in the MTV series Sweet/Vicious, where she played the character Ophelia Mayer.
The series was a cult hit and followed Ophelia and her friend Jules who acted as campus vigilantes targeting sexual assault offenders.
However, despite it being loved by fans – it was cancelled after one season.
Taylor then starred as Chloe Lyman in the second season of Netflix‘s American Vandal, an Emmy-nominated series.
Bryan has also shared the advice he has given his daughter over the years, revealing in one interview that he has taught his daughter “to not to be afraid of not knowing where she is”.
He said: “Sometimes I go out for a walk with no direction or drive without a destination.
“My wife asks me, ‘Do you know where you’re going?’ and I reply, ‘Not really, I’m just exploring different places.' As long as you have a sense of direction, you will find your way.”
In The Pitt, Taylor stars as Dr Mel King, a doctor with experience working with army veterans and a twin sister, Becca, who has autism and for whom Mel has been her caretaker for many years.
Although Mel has not shared any diagnosis of her own on screen, she has been read as neurodivergent by many viewers.
Taylor told Decider: “I'm neurodivergent so I think it’s really coming from me. I have severe ADHD.
“So we’re on the same spectrum now as autism, which was I think for all ADHD people was like, “Ohhhhh.”; And then all autistic people are like, “That’s why we got along with them.”;
“I’ve never really seen a character, especially with ADHD, but being on the same spectrum, it just feels, it felt right anyway.”
