Six budget ways to create an Easter wreath to decorate your home

Published on April 13, 2025 at 05:32 PM

CRAFT yourself a budget Easter wreath to decorate your home.

Here’s how to whip up a doorstep showstopper that will have the neighbours talking, for less than the price of a chocolate egg.

BACK TO BASE: Skip expensive wreath bases and use a wire coat hanger bent into a circle (or an old embroidery hoop) as your base.

BACK TO BASE: Skip expensive wreath bases and use a wire coat hanger bent into a circle (or an old embroidery hoop) as your base.

Wrap it with scraps of fabric, any leftover wool or yarn from a craft box or cut an old T-shirt into strips and wrap around the base as a budget option.

BRANCH OUT: Get outdoors in the lovely weather and collect budding branches and fresh foliage which you can twist over your base, or attach with glue or string.

To keep it looking fresh, spray with a little water throughout the week.

EGG-STRA DECOR: Get the family involved with some .

Tap a pin hole in eggs and leave upside down on the top of a glass to let the yolk drain.

Once empty, paint with acrylics, watercolours or even leftover paint pot testers in Easter colours.

For a smart, invisible way to tie them to your wreath, try popping one or two in a clean old pair of tights before snipping and tying to your base.

Another great way to add colour is to use old ribbon to make pretty bows which you can glue into place, or just cut up strips of colourful paper and glue your own bow shapes on to your wreath.

TOY TIP: Raid kids’ rooms for small spring-themed toys — think bunnies, tiny chicks from , or even flowers.

You can tie them on to your wreath and remove them safely for playing when is over.

HANGER ON: To hang your wreath, use a loop of ribbon over your door or if you have an old pastel scarf, it makes a great wreath hanger.
