Authorities in Plateau State have verified reports of an early morning assault in the Shen Mountain region, which led to the death of several animals and the disappearance of a herder.

Police sources informed Zagazola Makama that the command received a distress call around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to the report, a group suspected to be local residents ambushed herders at about 2:30 a.m. while they were moving their cattle.

Two cows and three rams were killed in the incident. One of the herders is currently unaccounted for.

Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer in Bukuru, Supol Bukuru, swiftly led a patrol team to the location to prevent further violence.

Efforts are ongoing to find the missing herder, and a comprehensive investigation is underway to identify those responsible and maintain peace in the area.

The command urged residents to stay calm and continue to cooperate with security forces.
