A group of criminals notorious for robbing commercial tricycle operators and their passengers on flyover bridges in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has been apprehended by members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN).

The VGN commander for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), John Samuel, confirmed the arrest, identifying the suspects as Muhammad Abubakar and Misbahu Abubakar.

“Our operatives caught them red-handed on Wednesday night at the Nyanya bridge after they had just stolen ₦20,000 from a tricycle operator,”; Samuel told Abuja Metro.

According to him, the victim’s cries for help alerted VGN operatives patrolling the area, who immediately pursued and captured the suspects. “We responded swiftly and managed to apprehend them before they could escape,”; he said.

Samuel added that the stolen money was retrieved from the suspects and returned to the rightful owner.

“The suspects were later taken to our office in Nyanya for investigation and profiling before being handed over to the police for further action,”; he stated.
