The surprising body part which makes Sydney Sweeney the sexiest woman on the planet – and the science that proves it

Published on April 02, 2025 at 10:02 AM

WITH her beauty, brains and talent, it's not surprising starlet Sydney Sweeney is regarded as one of the hottest actresses in Hollywood right now.

And while it was her personal life attracting attention lately after splitting from fiancéJonathan Davino, the Euphoria star, 27, has made waves with a string of high profile acting roles.

The 27-year-old's love life has recently hit the headlines after calling off her engagement

Starring in TV shows such as The White Lotus and Handmaid's Tale and films including Madame Web and rom-com Anyone But You, the beauty, who is soon to star in a Barbarella remake, has really made a name for herself as one to watch in recent years.

As well as her professional successes Sydney is constantly complimented for her beauty – with many hailing her as one of the sexiest women in the world.

Not that she should be underestimated or judged solely on her looks – a mistake Sydney, who has been romantically linked to former co-star Glen Powell, says people have made before.

In the past, Sydney famously declared the biggest misconception people have about her is she's just “a dumb blondewithbig t**s”.

A huge advocate for body confidence, in a previous interview, Sydney said: “Flaunt what you got. Own it.

“I want to show girls that it’s amazing and beautiful and empowering to have the bodies that we have.

“Everybody’s body is beautiful. When you are confident and you’re happy within is when it really shows to other people.”

And while she oozes talent and confidence, there's actually one stand-out physical feature Sydney possesses that many, ahem, ‘overlook' – her striking blue eyes.

Explaining the science behind why her perfect peepers are the secret to her captivating beauty, consultant facial plastic surgeon Mr Anil Joshi says: “Sydney has large, expressive eyes.

“They also have an optimal interocular distance [the distance between the centres of your pupils] – a feature that is a hallmark of beauty.

“Wide, bright eyes are often also associated with youthfulness and femininity.”

Founder and medical director of Dr Ducu Clinics, Doctor Ducu Botoaca agrees, adding: “Sydney Sweeney’s eyes are a perfect example of how facial proportions play a key role in perceived beauty.

“From a cosmetic perspective, her eyes have an ideal balance of upper and lower lid exposure, which enhances their symmetry.

“Her brow position and the gentle upturn at the outer corners contribute to an expressive, youthful look.”

Eye-catching, youthful feature

The size and shape of Sydney's eyes are two key factors which mean they're among her most valuable physical assets.

Dr Metin Nizamoglu, surgeon at Centre for Surgery, adds: “She has “almond-shaped”; eyes, which is a very typical characteristic of attractiveness.

“She also has a large visible area of her iris and an upward and lateral inclination of both eye axes (the slant of the outer eyes), which is also known as the canthal tilt. Both are signs of youth and attractiveness.

“This is accentuated by the upward inclination of her eyebrows which compliments her appearance.”

This works well with the rest of her facial features, with Mr Joshi adding: “Additionally, her full lips are well-balanced with the rest of her facial features.

Sydney’s eyes are without a doubt one of her most distinctive features.

“The upper-to-lower lip ratio and soft cupid’s bow shape add to the overall symmetry.

“Even glowing skin enhances facial symmetry perception [and] her smooth complexion highlights natural contours, making her features stand out more symmetrically.

“Her face has a soft yet structured look, combining delicate curves with well-defined elements. This blend makes her universally attractive across different cultural beauty ideals.”

The window to the soul

Another reason why someone's eyes are commonly associated with beauty is because of the youthful, fresh-faced effect they can create.

Amish Patel, Award-Winning Aesthetics Practitioner & Skincare Expert at Intrigue Cosmetic Clinic says: “This ‘doe-eyed' look is more often seen in children and large, open eyes into adulthood are not as common.

“As we age, eyes can seem smaller due to fat tissue reduction, muscle weakening, and general skin laxity in that area.

“This can lead to sunken eyes and drooping eyelids.

“However, at 27, Sydney is still youthful and while I expect to see some degree of ageing, I doubt she will lose this wide-open eye look as she matures, given her eye shape, symmetry of eyelid and eye socket.”

‘A smoky, smouldering quality'

While Sydney is genetically blessed with such large eyes, there are clever ways to replicate the look at home, with the star using makeup tips and tricks to accentuate her ‘eye-catching' facial features, too.

Professional make-up artist Sarah-Jane Froom says: “Sydney’s eyes are without a doubt one of her most distinctive features.

“To achieve her sultry, standout eye look, it’s all about creating depth and definition while maintaining a soft, flattering finish.

“She knows how to make her eyes the focal point, often pairing a bold eye with fresh, glowing skin.

“Her approach is all about enhancing her natural features rather than masking them.

“Whether she’s wearing a full smoky eye or a softer, more diffused look, she always creates a polished, radiant appearance that feels effortlessly chic.

“Her eyes often have a smoky, smouldering quality, which can be created through the perfect combination of eyeshadows, eyeliner and lashes.”

TOP TIPS

  • Start with a good primer: This ensures the eyeshadow stays in place all day and gives a smooth base for blending.
  • Define the crease: Use warm, neutral shades such as soft browns or terracotta to add depth to the crease. This helps enhance the natural shape of the eye without it feeling too heavy.
  • Smoky eyes: Sydney often favours a smoky eye, typically with dark eyeliner along the lash line. I recommend blending a dark brown or black shadow into the liner to soften it and create that sultry, lived-in look.
  • Lashes are essential: To get Sydney’s eye-popping lashes, I always recommend a volumising mascara. For a more dramatic effect, you can add some natural-looking false lashes that provide length and lift, but without being too over-the-top.
  • Highlight the inner corners: This little trick instantly brightens the eyes, making them look more awake and larger – perfect for achieving Sydney's signature bright-eyed gaze.

The ‘golden ratio' rule

As well as making a lasting impression with her stand-out eyes, there's another scientific reason why Sydney's beauty is considered so alluring.

According to plastic surgeon Onur Gilleard, it's down to the ‘golden ratio' formula, which relates to the proportion of Sydney's physical features.

Dr Gilleard says: “The beauty of Sydney Sweeney is rooted in the fact that her facial features are symmetrical and closely aligned with perfect harmony and proportion.

a diagram of a woman 's face shows the nose projection two thirds of length and lip width 1.6 times that of the nose
As well as her stand-out eyes, the ratio of Sydney's facial features also contributes to her ‘classic' beauty

“These ideal facial proportions are often referred to as the ‘golden ratio.'

“The golden ratio in facial proportions can be applied both horizontally, known as the “rule of fifths,”; and vertically, known as the ‘rule of thirds'.

“For example, an attractive female nose, when viewed from the side, should have a gentle curve, its projection (the amount it protrudes from the face) should be approximately two thirds of its length, and the angle between the nose and the lip should fall between 95-100 degrees.

“The ideal chin position is considered to be approximately 1mm behind a vertical line dropped from the upper lip [and] high, well-defined cheekbones are a significant indicator of female beauty.

“When analysing Sidney Sweeney's face, nearly all of her facial features adhere to the golden ratios, which is why she is referred to as a “classical beauty.”;

With her beauty and brains, maybe this is one Hollywood starlet who really proves you can have it all.
