Taraba: Relief as Jalingo records first rainfall of 2025

Published on April 10, 2025 at 08:21 AM

Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, witnessed its first rainfall of the year on Thursday, ushering in the 2025 rainy season with calm weather and no recorded damage.

The rain, which began at approximately 7:50 am, fell steadily for over one hour.

Unlike in previous years when the first rains were accompanied by heavy winds and sometimes destruction, this year's downpour was notably gentle, as there were no signs of flooding or structural damage across the state capital.

Residents expressed gratitude and relief over the peaceful nature of the rainfall.

“We thank God that the rain was peaceful and no form of destruction was recorded in any part of our state capital,”; said Mallam Adamu Sani, a local resident.

Many others, while speaking to DAILY POST, recalled how the first rains in previous years often led to the destruction of properties.

They expressed hope that subsequent rainfall this season would follow the same peaceful pattern.

The gentle rainfall has been warmly received by the people of Jalingo, marking a positive start to the rainy season in 2025.
