Tariffs war: What I advised Trump about Europe – Musk

Published on April 07, 2025 at 06:29 AM

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has suggested that the US and Europe could develop their economic relationship toward eliminating the need for tariffs.

Musk stated this on Saturday during a video interview with Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini.

The Tesla CEO disclosed that he had advised President Donald Trump to bolster the relationship with European countries.

“At the end of the day, I hope it's agreed that both Europe and the United States should move ideally, in my view, to a zero-tariff situation—effectively creating a free trade zone between Europe and North America,” Musk said.

He also suggested that he would like to see greater freedom of movement between Europe and the US, adding that this has been his advice to President Trump.

DAILY POST reports that Musk's statement comes less than a week after Trump imposed sweeping tariffs against nearly every major country in the world.

However, world leaders have vowed to retaliate against the tariffs.
