It is believed the pair ate at Chinese restaurant Tattu in Spinningfields.

And they were spotted walking through Manchester city centre following the three-hour meal.

According to Manchester Evening News, Van Persie is back in Manchester working on his coaching badges.

The ex-Red Devils striker is assistant manager at Feyenoord but is believed to be keen on a top job somewhere.

Ten Hag is believed to have offered Van Persie advice and invited him back to Carrington to test his skills.

But United were keen to stress that Van Persie is not going to join Ten Hag’s coaching staff.

The Dutchman brought two assistants into the club when he joined in the summer – Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren.

Van Persie, 39, reportedly turned down the chance to team up with Ten Hag.

He rejected the offer as he did not want to move back to England, instead choosing to give kids Shaqueel and Dina “stability” after years of moving.

Speaking to Life After Football, Van Persie said: “My son and daughter are important right now.

“The fact that they have both found their passion is great. A hobby is nice, but you hope that they really find a passion.

“Dina succeeded in doing that with horse riding, she’s totally into it, and Shaqueel has the same thing with soccer.

“My wife, Bouchra, is developing all her talents with our projects and that’s great to see. We’re enjoying ourselves together.”

Van Persie added: “In London, when I played at Arsenal, we moved five times.

“We also lived in Manchester and Istanbul. All in all, we were away for almost fourteen years.
