SAVE HUNDREDS AT TESCO

TESCO Clubcard has issued a major warning to customers ahead of a big change to its app in days.

The retailer has said shoppers have to update their apps before March 31 as older versions will not work after.

Tesco is making an update to its app in days

In an email to customers today, Tesco said: “To increase your data protection and online security, we're updating our Tesco app to a newer version.

“After March 31, older versions of the app will no longer work.

“To keep shopping and enjoying all of your Clubcard benefits on your app, make sure you have the latest version before March 31.”

Tesco said the behind-the-scenes update won't affect its website Tesco.com.

Shoppers can update their Tesco grocery and Clubcard apps via the Apple App Store or Google Play.

It's not the first time Tesco has made a change to its app in recent weeks.

The UK's biggest supermarket axed the popular Tesco Pay+ feature from the app at the start of the month.

It means shoppers can no longer pay for their shop and collect Clubcard points in one swipe at the checkout.

A spokesperson for Tesco said the supermarket regularly reviewed the payment options available to shoppers.

But customers took to social media slamming the change.

One said: “I was so gutted when i saw this email, meant I didn't have to carry my physical card and was so handy.

Another fumed: “I been using this since the first week it came out years ago, unhappy with this. it was so much easier.”

A third added: “This was so convenient, just scanning one QR…guess nobody used it other than me.”

It's not all been bad news though, as Tesco Clubcard is letting customers exchange their points for money off drinks and food at PizzaExpress until the end of April.

Points can usually only be exchanged for food at the chain, which has hundreds ofrestaurantsacross the UK.

The supermarket is also trialling a new Clubcard feature where customers can get personalised offers and discounts.

The “Your Clubcard Prices” update has been rolled out to selected shoppers.

How does Tesco Clubcard work?

You earn points as you shop, which can then be turned into vouchers for money off food or with Tesco's partners.

You earn one point for each £1 spent, and each point is then worth 1p.

So 150 points gets you £1.50 and you would have to spend £150 to get 150 points.

You need a minimum of 150 points to request a voucher.

Any vouchers are worth their face value when used in-store at Tesco.

But you can double their worth by spending them at one of the supermarket chain's partners.

There are over 100 partners you can spend your Clubcard points with, including the RAC, Disney+ and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.

Any vouchers transferred into Reward Partner codes expire after six months.

How to find lost Tesco Clubcard points

MANY people lose or forget to use their Tesco vouchers, but there's an easy way to claw back the last two years of unused vouchers.

Here's exactly how to find out if you have any unused vouchers.

The first step is to log into your Tesco Clubcard account on Tesco.com or via the Clubcard app.

You'll need your name, email address and Clubcard number to hand.

Once you've logged in, navigate to “My Clubcard Account” and then click on “Vouchers” to see a full list of any vouchers you still have to spend.

You can use the code included in your voucher to spend online.

If you want to redeem them in-store, you'll need to print them off and take them with you.
