The 1% Club finalists walk away from £94k jackpot over difficult last question

ONE player missed out on almost £100,000 in winnings on ITV's The 1% Club after opting to walk away, but could have won big.

The logic-based quiz show works by starting with 100 players who are eliminated during an episode as they get answers incorrect.

The logic based question required the players to solve a tricky problem

Hosted by Lee Mack the questions get progressively harder until only 1 percent of contestants remain.

In the most recent episode, two players made it to the final round and had the option to either attempt to answer the 1 percent question and win the £94,000 jackpot or they could choose to leave with a share of £10,000 each.

They both opted to take their half of the £10,000, rather than risk not winning anything if they didn't get the last question right.

Lee asked the final problem which was: “Yolande takes one tablet on every day of the week that has three vowels in total in it.

“She starts this pack on 2nd March. What date will she need to start a new pack?”

Players usually get 30 seconds to answer, and it turned out that one of Saturday's competitors solved the answer, which was Tuesday, March 26.

It turns out one of the players, Sara, actually got the answer right which means she missed out on winning £99,000.

“I wanted to not go home empty handed,” Sara told Lee about her decision to split the £10,000.

But a Sara did appear disappointed after realising she had the chance to win big, but Lee did his best to reassure her.

“I still think you've done the right thing considering how difficult these questions can be,” he said.

The 1% Club is about to get a new rival after its huge success in Japan.

The show called 100 Choices sees a group of contestants presented with 1 question and 100 possible answers.

Its premise is similar to The 1% Club where but there's a twist in the new show.

In 100 Choices, the question is near impossible to answer straight away.

So, to help narrow down the possibilities its contestants must tackle five physical challenges.

Each success will then enable them to eliminate incorrect options.

Acquired by Sony Pictures Television, the show will will be launching at London Screenings 2025.
