Tonight's (April 12) instalment made history with a whopping 12 contestants reaching the 1% question.

Host began the round by saying: “Because there are 12 of you in the final, that's actually a record for The 1% Club.

“So that means you are officially our cleverest contestants.”

Despite having the option to take a share of £10,000, all 12 finalists opted to face the episode's final brainteaser.

The £93,000 question asked: “If you removed all the underlined letters from the sentence below, what word can be spelt if you rearrange all the remaining letters?”

The sentence looked as follows: ONE SELLING FRESH SALMON

By rearranging the letters, you'll find the word “fishmonger”, with the sentence itself also being a hint.

Only three of the 12 finalists managed to successfully find the answer under an intense time limit.

Lee declared: “Congratulations David, Ellis and Govind, you are members of The 1% Club!”

It meant the trio each took home an incredible £31,000 for their efforts on the show.

However, not all contestants can be so lucky – with some by tricky questions.

A previous episode saw contestants

“Which word continues the pattern to complete the sentence?”

The sentence offered up to the players then read: “Silly dummies running loose…”

Three answer options were then provided – wildly, happily and frequently.

They were then given 30 seconds on the clock to see if they could answer it correctly.

The tough question saw four players eliminated as they struggled to see a definitive pattern.

It was then revealed that the answer was Happily.
