The story of the tournament continues to rumble on as leads by two shots heading into the Masters' final round at Augusta National, where he hopes to hold off .

won his first green jacket in 2022 and repeated his victory last year to establish his reputation as World No. 1, but he appears to be out of contention this year.

The American was hoping to become only the fourth player to win back-to-back, and the first since in 2002, but he is some distance behind leader McIlroy.

The Northern Irishman is back in the hunt to become only the sixth golfer to complete a career grand slam, following an impressive start to the season that featured victory at the Players Championship.

The Masters 2025 prize money

Scottie Scheffler won the Masters last year for $3.6 million, half of a record $20 million prize fund.

The entire prize money for the 2025 edition has risen once again.

This year's split is as follows, with the $21 million total purse representing an increase of 1 million from 2024.
