Thierry Henry savages Man Utd star Marcus Rashford for miss against Tottenham but Patrice Evra leaps to his defence

THIERRY HENRY has slammed Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford for not using his brain against Tottenham.

The English forward spurned a few chances during the Red Devils‘ 2-0 victory over Spurs at Old Trafford last night.

Marcus Rashford wasted a few chances for Manchester United against Tottenham last night

The goals came from Fred’s deflected strike and Bruno Fernandes‘ tidy finish, but it was a frustrating evening for Rashford.

The striker had four shots but was unable to find a way past Hugo Lloris in Spurs’ goal.

With all of his attempts, Rashford opted for power, but he was not able to direct the ball out of the reach of the French stopper.

Henry was on Amazon Prime’s punditry panel during the game and was not impressed with the United forward.

The former Arsenal striker suggested that Rashford should have tried to place his shots more rather than smashing the ball.

He said: “You open the goal up, just finish it – place it down here.

“Boom. Why hit it hard on him? Side foot, goal. See you later. It was right at him, but great reactions from Hugo.”;

Ex-United defender Patrice Evra was also on the panel and he defended Rashford, saying: “Not everyone gets your brain, Thierry.”;

However, Henry bit back: “No I know, but you have one – use it.”;

The misses would not prove costly to Erik ten Hag‘s side as they collected the three points.

United are now unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions and have climbed up to 5th in the Premier League table.

But for Rashford’s sake, he will want to start converting more regularly if he wants to break into Gareth Southgate‘s World Cup squad.

This season, the 24-year-old has improved and has scored five goals in the Premier League and Europa League.

Spurs however are still 3rd in the table, but manager Antonio Conte will want to see quick improvements from his side.

Some inconsistent performances over the last few weeks are starting to suggest the North London side might not be up to a title push.
