Things Heard & Seen is coming to Netflix tonight: April 29, 2021

Published on April 28, 2021 at 12:17 PM

Things Heard & Seen is coming to Netflix late-night tonight on Thursday, April 29, 2021.

This is a Netflix original film based on the 2016 novel All Things Cease to Appear by Elizabeth Brundage. If you've read the book or need a new horror/thriller, then make sure to add this one to your watch list.

The film follows a married couple played by Amanda Seyfried and James Norton, respectively, who relocate to Hudson Valley to escape the city and settle into a small-town lifestyle. Seyfried plays a young artist who slowly begins to unravel a sinister darkness within her new home and picturesque marriage.

Brundage's book was inspired by a 1982 homicide case in Brighton, New York. The victim was Cathleen Krauseneck who was discovered murdered with an ax while she laid in bed. Her body remained in the house for hours until her husband, James, allegedly arrived home after work to discover the horrific scene. In 2019, three years after Brundage published her novel and 37 years after Cathleen's death, James was charged with second-degree murder. Seyfried and Norton's characters are loosely based on Cathleen and her husband.

What time is Things Heard & Seen available on Netflix?

Things Head & Seen will be available to stream at 12:01 am PT / 3:01 am ET on April 29, 2021. If you've been craving a physiological horror/thriller, then a midnight showing might be the perfect time to watch tonight. Considering this is based on a true story, you may want to keep the lights on.

Alongside Seyfried and Norton, the film stars Natalia Dyer of Stranger Things, Rhea Seehorn, Alex Neustaedter, and F. Murray Abraham. Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini both wrote the screenplay and directed the film.

While screen adaptations tend to differ from the novels they're based on, Brundage has said that the film will still maintain key similarities to the 1982 murder of Cathleen Krauseneck and those involved.
