Three kidnap victims killed in Kaduna after ransom payment

Published on March 27, 2025 at 01:09 PM

Three residents of Surubu Community in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State who were abducted on Saturday, March 22, 2025, have been killed by their captors despite the payment of ransom to secure their release.

The victims—Obadiah Dangana, Emmanuel Moses (popularly known as Bobbling Guy), and Danjuma Sardauna—were discovered lifeless in a forest during a military search operation on Monday, March 24, 2025.

In a statement, the Surubu Community Development Association condemned the killing, describing it as tragic and deeply disturbing. The association’s National Public Relations Officer, Comrade Caleb Magaji, confirmed the deaths, saying the victims were kidnapped while carrying out their daily activities.

“This tragic incident is not isolated,”; Magaji stated. “Our land, alongside other communities in Kumana and Kauru Local Government, continues to suffer from recurring attacks. Many of our people remain in captivity in the forest, even after huge sums have been paid as ransom.”;

The association called on the government and security agencies to intensify efforts to restore peace in the area and ensure the release of those still in captivity.

“We call on the government and security agencies at all levels to bring the perpetrators to justice and secure the release of those still held captive,”; Magaji added.

While acknowledging the government’s recent efforts, including the establishment of a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kauru Local Government, Magaji urged authorities to set up military checkpoints in Kusheka, Kabene, and Geshere communities to enhance security and facilitate quicker responses to attacks.

“The frequent attacks on many communities, especially in Kumana, are deeply concerning and require stronger commitment from the government at all levels,”; the statement read.
