TIGER WOODS has made a major announcement just days before the start of the Masters.
The golf legend has been battling a torn Achilles injury, putting him out of action for months.
The 49-year-old said last week he would be making a miracle return for the Masters 2025.
However, that turned out to be an April Fools joke, and he will still be missing from Augusta this week.
But he five-time green jacket winner has now made a fresh announcement over some exciting plans.
Woods' court design team is linking up with the Augusta National Golf Club to help revitalize a local course in the city.
The Augusta Municipal Golf Course is being renovated thanks to funds from the ANGC.
The 18-hole course, also known as the Patch, is being overhauled by Tom Fazio and Beau Welling.
And, this week, it has been revealed Woods will help design a nine-hold Par-3 on the Georgia-based grounds.
It will be known as the ‘Loop at the Patch'.
He is also opening a TGR Learning Lab in Augusta, for STEM and arts education.
Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley revealed Woods took an interest in it while they played a round ahead of the 2024 Masters.
“It was clear when I shared the concept that it sort of piqued his interest,” said Ridley.
“That was sort of the beginning of a conversation, a dialogue that took place between our organizations, and after that a few meetings took place.
“The idea just sort of grew from what we were doing to how Tiger and TGR could be involved.
“He then sort of moved into discussing the big idea of the TGR Learning Lab, which to me is just very exciting.
“We recognize the importance of deepening Tiger's legacy in Augusta and with the Masters.
“This we felt was an enduring way that we could be forever connected with Tiger and all he's done at the Masters and now all that he's going to be doing in this community.
“I know that this whole concept of a short course is something that's near and dear to Tiger's heart.
“I know he's stated that he grew up playing on short courses, so I'm sure they're going to make it really interesting for these people, for everybody.”
Woods is missing his first Masters since 2021, and just his fifth overall in 31 possible entries.
The 15-time Major winner also released a statement of his own over the new venture.
“Partnering with Augusta National Golf Club to serve its surrounding community is truly special,” he said.
“My passion for education and golf dates back a long time, as does my relationship with Augusta National and the city of Augusta.
“This is a transformational opportunity to empower the next generation and deliver meaningful educational programming and access to fun and affordable golf.
“I am excited to work alongside Augusta National and see both projects become a reality.”
