Tinubu inaugurates Nigerian Independent System Operator board

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday inaugurated the board of the Nigerian Independent System Operator in line with the 2023 Electricity Act on the unbundling of the Transmission Company of Nigeria.

The inauguration took place at the presidential villa on Tuesday and was conducted by the Vice President, Kasim Shettima, with Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu in attendance.

The newly established NISO board is comprised of executive and non-executive board members.

Recall that Tinubu appointed Dr. Adesegun Olugbade to serve as NISO board chairman and Engr. Abdullahi Bello Mohammed as managing director or chief executive officer.

Other executive directors are Engineer Nafisatu Asabe Ali, ED Systems Operation, and Engineer Shehu Abba-Aliyu, ED Systems Planning, Dr. Edmund Eje, Executive Director of Market Operations, and Mr. Babajide Ibironke, ED of Finance and Corporate Services.

While Non-Executive Directors include Engineer Lamu Audu (Generation), Mrs. Folake Soetan (Distribution), Tajudeen Giwa-Osagie (Market Expert), and Engineer Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz (Transmission), and Alhaji Mahmuda Mamman, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Power (representative of the Ministry of Power).
