Ambulance crews rushed to the resort and quickly took the boy to hospital.

He was sadly pronounced dead as he arrived, according to local media.

The heartbreaking death took place on Sunday afternoon in a holiday park in the small village of Planos where a Brit family was reportedly staying.

The toddler was with his mother, two aunts and grandparents at a rented villa, according to Greek state broadcaster ERT.

The UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has since confirmed the tot's death.

A spokesperson said: “We are providing consular support to the family of a British child who has died in Greece and are in contact with the local authorities.”
