Tottenham's side, which featured the likes of Aaron Lennon, Robbie Kean, Dimitar Berbatov and Jermain Defoe, rolled back the years with some stunning football in the early stages.

In fact, the Premier league aces were 3-0 up within 20 minutes against a Milan side featuring Dida, Andrea Pirlo and Cafu.

And Spurs fans couldn't help but wish their iconic heroes could lace up after the international break too, joking that they might to a better job than their current crop.

On social media, one wrote: “Keep these lads on after the international break”.

While another added: “Can the legends just play every week till end of the season”.

A third teased: “The legend are playing better than our first team”.

And a fourth posted: “seen enough, bring Defoe back to the first team”, after seeing Defoe net in the first half.

Spurs have had a torrid campaign under Ange Postecoglou this season and are currently 14th in the Premier League.
