Transgender rights are human rights – US Senator joins celebration of Trans Day Of Visibility

Published on April 01, 2025 at 12:16 PM

US Senator, Lisa Blunt Rochester on Monday, March 31, joined other Americans celebrating the 2025 Transgender Day of Visibility, TDOV.

In a post on her official X handle, the lawmaker condemned what she termed as “transphobic hate”, declaring that “trans rights are human rights”.

She wrote, “I joined everyone celebrating Trans Day Of Visibility today'!

“It is more important than ever that we not only stand up to transphobic hate, but that we do all we can to create more safe and inclusive communities for all.

“Today and every day, trans rights are human rights”.

DAILY POST reports that Monday marked the TDOV Day, which aimed at honouring transgender, nonbinary and gender-expansive people while drawing the attention of the world to the high levels of discrimination and violence the community faces.

The 2025 TDOV followed President Donald Trump’s recent executive orders that restricted the rights of transgender Americans, which impacted their ability to serve in the military.

The executive orders also restricted transgender people from participating in school sports and obtaining some government documentation.
