Troops eliminate bandit in Plateau security operations

Published on March 25, 2025 at 08:59 PM

Security forces under Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have successfully neutralized a suspected bandit and an armed robber in two separate operations in Wase and Bokkos Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday in Jos by Major Samson Zhakom, the Media Officer of OPSH.

He stated that the operations, conducted on March 24, 2025, were part of a broader strategy to eliminate criminal threats in the region.

According to Zhakom, troops carried out a clearance operation in Kampani Zurak, Wase LGA, where they engaged and took down a suspected bandit linked to a criminal network operating across Wase and Taraba State.

On the same day, security forces intervened in an armed robbery incident along the Bokkos–Richa road after receiving a distress call.

Upon arrival, troops engaged the assailants in a firefight, overpowering them with superior firepower.

One suspect was neutralized, while the rest managed to escape, sustaining injuries in the process.

An AK-47 rifle was recovered from the scene, and security operatives have launched a follow-up operation to track down the fleeing criminals.
