In a major breakthrough in the fight against banditry, security forces have eliminated a wanted bandit kingpin, Ibrahim Kaboni, alongside eight of his fighters during a well-coordinated ambush in Zamfara State.

According to security sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the operation was executed by troops of Operation Fansan Yamma, working under the 1 Brigade.

The ambush took place on April 16, 2025, near Keta village in Tsafe Local Government Area, during a sustained counter-banditry operation.

The joint team of military and other security agencies had been monitoring Kaboni’s movements through intelligence and surveillance, leading to the precise strike.

The source revealed that the encounter triggered a fierce gun battle, with troops pursuing the criminals as they attempted to escape.

Ibrahim Kaboni and eight of his men were neutralized, while others managed to flee with gunshot injuries.

Kaboni had long been on the radar of security agencies for orchestrating several violent attacks, kidnappings, and cattle rustling activities in Tsafe and surrounding communities.
