Nigerian troops operating in various theatres of operation have successfully repelled a terrorist ambush in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, neutralized several insurgents, and rescued kidnapped victims during a week-long series of coordinated offensives nationwide.

According to the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, the ambush was met with a fierce firefight, after which troops subdued the attackers and recovered weapons.

Between April 3–10, 2025, military operations in Borno and Yobe states led to the elimination of scores of terrorists and the arrest of key collaborators, including nine logistics suppliers. Recovered items included arms, RPGs, improvised explosive devices, and over N235,000 in cash.

In the Northwest, troops of Operation Fasan Yamma neutralized terrorists across Sokoto, Katsina, Zamfara, and Kebbi states, recovering weapons, rustled livestock, motorcycles, and rescuing multiple kidnapped civilians.

Similar success was recorded in North Central and Southern regions. In Plateau, Kaduna, Edo, Kwara, and Benue states, joint forces neutralized extremists, rescued captives, and recovered a cache of arms and vehicles. Notably, a wanted kidnap suspect was gunned down in Bauchi after attempting to escape arrest.

Troops of Operation Delta Safe also dealt a major blow to oil thieves in the Niger Delta, seizing over N869 million worth of stolen petroleum products and destroying numerous illegal refining sites.

In the Southeast, troops of Operation Udoka neutralized a notorious terrorist leader, Nkwachi Eze (aka Onowu), in Imo State, arrested others, and recovered weapons, explosives, and propaganda materials linked to secessionist groups.

General Kangye reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ resolve to uphold national unity, protect civilians, and maintain territorial integrity, commending the courage and professionalism of troops across all zones.
