Troops rescue 20 kidnapped victims in Taraba after gun battle

The Nigerian Army troops of 6 Brigade, in collaboration with operatives of the 67 Police Mobile Force (PMF), have rescued 20 kidnapped victims following a gun battle with armed criminals along the Takum-Mararaba Road in Taraba State.

According to a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X on Sunday, the operation took place on Saturday night at about 9:50 p.m. after security forces received credible intelligence about a kidnapping incident in Muji town.

Makama reported that the troops, supported by PMF personnel stationed at Samta, swiftly mobilized and confronted the kidnappers.

“Overpowered by the superior firepower of the security operatives, the assailants abandoned the victims and fled into the forest.,”;he said.

Among those rescued were Yakubu Usman of Angwan Abuja and Godwin Peter of Angwan Dadin Kowa, who sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The troops also recovered vehicles abandoned at the scene as efforts to track down the fleeing criminals continue.
